If you have a decent graphix card you need set it to 32bit or higher. The game requires a higher resolution bit. Your computer restarts itself to keep from crashing. You can turn that option off if you wish and see if the game will run anyway, but i wouldn't risk it. Dowload the master update 1.0.2.3 and apply the 2.1 standalone patch, and u're ready to go! No much trouble. The standalone patch converts the game into non-steam version, so u can play unofficial servers. Otherwise, leave this page and go buy the game on steam, there's no way u can play l4d on official servers on steam if u haven't a original serial number.
